Matthew Paul Menovcik is an electro-acoustic songwriter and composer from Detroit, Michigan and currently based in Seattle, Washington. He creates cinematic ambient music informed by pop and Impressionist Classical. He is influenced by artists such as Brian Eno, Erik Satie and Nina Simone.
Menovcik has been in numerous musical endeavors over the years including being in the bands Saeta, Ms. Led, Rope, Inc. (a collaboration with infamous producer Kramer), Vinca Minor, Vinca Major and works under his own name. He has released music on labels such as Ghost Records, Second Shimmy, Tarnished, Fish The Cat and Ippylu. He has also scored and had his music used in several short and full-length films including C.B., Run, Hide, Die, Silvio Soldini’s Days and Clouds and Cesar Lanza’s La Perfezionista.
Menovcik is releasing a new album in Fall 2026 entitled With What Little Light Is Left. It is an instrumental album born of the grief of the end of a marriage though imbued with a hope of a better tomorrow and filled with celebrations of tiny victories along the way. The last piece on the album was written for a friend whose husband had recently passed away. When cleaning her house, she found and gave Menovcik an electric guitar the husband had owned. All of the parts in the piece are performed using this guitar. Over the past year, Menovcik has been using Spravato therapy for his major depressive disorder and these pieces have accompanied and assisted him on his journey. It is in wanting to share with others the peace and hope that he finds in these recordings that he is releasing this album. The album will be released digitally along with a very limited number of vinyl pressings on September 25, 2026.
