In An Enclosed Space by Matt Menovcik
In An Enclosed Space is the new ambient pop album by songwriter, film composer and producer Matt Menovcik (Saeta, Vinca Minor, Rope, Inc.). It was written and recorded during a time of wild fire smoke, the demise of a marriage and the pandemic. The album has been two years in the making utilizing multiple producers including Kramer and SE Sharma. The album is as personal as it is universal touching on themes of isolation, fear, longing and resilience. It's waking up in a world no one expected and finding the hope to carry on.
The album sounds like what Nick Cave's The Boatman's Call would have sounded like if Eno had produced it - classic songwriting with lush arrangements and raw emotionalism.
On the first single, Whispers, Menovcik had this to say: "To me, all songs are love songs and this is no exception. It's about the end of a romantic love and all of the emotions you feel when that happens. The whispers are the doubts, the false hopes, the empty promises and especially the hopelessness that goes through your mind during this period."
